Stress fractures are tiny cracks in your bone. They are typically caused from repetitive force or overuse. These fractures are most common in weight-bearing bones in the lower leg and foot. Common symptoms are tenderness in a specific spot in the foot that decreases with rest. This area may also have swelling around the painful area. Common causes of these fractures are increasing an activity in amount or intensity too quickly. Sports with risk of these injuries are track and field, basketball, tennis and dance or gymnastics. Treatment should include at home care under supervision of your podiatrist. If you have a Stress Fracture and need to discuss your treatment options, click here to make an appointment –> 303-442-2910
